Art
Sketchy Tours uses the sketchbook as a method for distilling one's travel experiences, for learning new art skills and recording discoveries. In many ways the act of choosing a place to sketch and staying focused while drawing, is more important than the sketch itself. Some of the greatest sketches are in the mind.
Our art instruction is flexible, accommodating any level of artist and a wide variety of personal interests. We maintain a leisurely pace to absorb the most inspiring aspects of the Dordogne region: vineyards, fields, forests and rivers, medieval towns, markets and prehistoric caves. The entire tour offers personalized question-and-answer opportunities. Our days often end with a salon gathering where we can view each others work, review art lessons, discuss events and make plans for the next day. Of course, at any point in time, you are always welcome to simply enjoy your surroundings. Sketching is never mandatory.
Guests are welcome to bring any art materials they are familiar with. The typical sketchbook kit includes a high quality, archival sketchbook, pencils, pens, or a small watercolor kit. You can find plenty of staff recommendations and sources for materials in our Blog.
Most importantly, you will return with a sketchbook of memories.
