This private tour begins in the Dordogne and ends with a visit to the village of St. Emillion, the World Heritage UNESCO site known for its excellent vineyards in the heart of the Bordeaux wine country, and the largest underground monolithic church in Europe. With travel to the heart of the Perigord Noir, this tour will spend a week situated near Beynac, a small medieval hill town overlooking the Dordogne River. A stroll through the steep winding streets of Beynac takes you through terraced gardens with views of the Dordogne castles.  It is an idyllic setting of vistas and gardens for sketching and relaxation. We visit remote castle ruins (Commarque, Beynac castle, Castelnaud), medieval sites (Romanesque churches and historic stops along the Compestella Pilgrimage route, Sarlat), and important prehistoric caves (Lascaux II, Font-de-Gaume, Abri Cap du Blanc). This tour is focused on a group accommodation and independent, a la carte, exploration of the historic and cultural sites of this area and the art of capturing first impressions with sketch journaling. Guests make meals together at the chateau, share their impressions of the day in the evening over casual salon-type discussions. This tour is nine days and eight nights and includes accommodations, transportation, entrance fees to cultural sites, artistic instruction and encouragement, breakfast and dinners daily. 

Additional sites can be added to the beginning of a tour or after.
